Fyffes Banana's Biggest Exporter Ever!

Ireland is the biggest exporter of bananas and has 

the oldest fruit brand in the world!


Although bananas cannot grow in Ireland, Fyffes ( Irish company which has its headquarters in Dublin) imports the bananas from Costa Rica, Honduras and Columbia! And then exports them to the rest of Europe! 
Fyffes is an Irish company in Dublin in Ireland. Fyffes does most fruits (Fyffes Gold Pineapples and Fyffes Melons) but the main fruit they associate with is the Banana. 

Fyffes started in 1800 and got their first delivery of bananas in London from the Canary Islands.

During the war (1939 - 1945) Fyffes had twenty one specialized banana carrying ships still followed the normal trade route even though they could have been attacked by German Navy vessels!

Fyffes have Fairtrade aswell!

Well as well all know, Bananas are cut with Machete's mainly in Africa.
In Africa, it is a well-known job that you can cut bananas for a job.

Banana Bread Recipe!

Ingredients for Banana Bread

  • 285g of self-raising flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • Half a teaspoon of salt
  • 110g butter
  • 225g caster sugar
  • 2 free-range eggs
  • 4 squashed bananas
  • 85ml of buttermilk or ordinary milk with 1 and a half teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Preparation method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C
  2. Sift the flour, add baking soda and salt into a large mixing bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
    Technique: Creaming butter by hand
  4. Add the eggs, mashed bananas, buttermilk and vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture and mix well. Fold in the flour mixture.
    Technique: Folding
  5. Grease a 20cm x 12.5cm/8in x 5in loaf tin and pour the cake mixture into the tin.
  6. Transfer to the oven and bake for about an hour, or until well-risen and golden-brown.
  7. Remove from the oven and cool in the tin for a few minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely before serving.

Banana Addiction?



Recently local people at work office have been chased down because they were holding a banana. Victims have been mauled down because they were running away from the "Banana Savages" who were chasing down local people for bananas.
A local witness says "BANANA" in a high pitched voice and then sprinted away in a hurry to get the banana everyone was craving for. In panic a local citizen threw the banana down a hole which made the banana gone forever.
Many bananas have been harmed in this terrific event,
